Continuities and discontinuities in regional integration and regionalism: domestic and regional actors and institutions
Professor Dra. Janina Onuki1
Professor Ms. Matheus Felipe Silva2Presentation
This dossier aims to receive unpublished collaborations that deal with the phenomena of regionalism and regional integration on the contemporary times, encompassing different areas of knowledge such as Social Sciences, International Relations and Economics. The different dynamics and different formats of regional integration and regionalism are not limited to specific regions or to consensus on unambiguous structures and formats, allowing the present dossier a broader understanding of different dynamics and analytical possibilities that help to understand these phenomena in contemporary times.
The theme is justified to the extent that regionalism and regional integration have gone through different moments of development as phenomena, and the current context raises debates about fragmentation and weakening of arrangements or the emergence of new formats and / or cycles. For these analyzes, it is necessary to take into account the current institutional engineering configurations and there possible or current mutations, as well as the engagement of relevant domestic and regional actors in these processes.
